Dalmatian Stone is often known as Dalmatian Jasper though it is in fact not a Jasper at all. The name is a misnomer and the stone is often mistaken for Jasper due to its inclusions and appearance. Dalmatian stone is also much softer than Jasper. It is a type of igneous microcrystalline quartz with mixed minerals, creating the distinctive spots.
